Rather than using a photo of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos (1819–1867), this reimagined book cover focuses on the instrument of his death, the yellow fever mosquito.
The overall design is greatly inspired by mid-nineteenth century religious lithographs and American printers, the types of works Bl. Seelos would have seen during his lifetime.
